3, 2008 PIWA celebrates 30 years of service to the insurance industry GLENMONT , N.Y.-In celebration of three decades of service to New York state’s insurance wholesaler community, The Professional Insurance Wholesalers Association of New York State Inc. held its 30th Anniversary Celebration on Oct. 30, at the Battery Gardens Restaurant, New York. “For 30 years, PIWA has represented and fought for the interests of insurance wholesale professionals throughout New York state,” said Gary Ricker, president of PIWA. “We’re proud of the work we’ve done throughout the years and look forward many more years of success.” Daniel F. Maher, Esq., executive director and chief operating officer of the Excess Line Association of New York, gave the keynote address at the event; he presented a retrospective of the excess-line industry during the past 30 years, including PIWA’s unique influence. The dinner also featured an awards/scholarship presentation, networking reception and the annual board of directors/company meeting. Vesela Bikova of Jamaica, was presented the Abe Snyder Memorial Scholarship, a $2,500 award for students studying risk management and insurance.Established in 1978, the Professional Insurance Wholesalers Association of New York State Inc. is a trade association of New York state insurance wholesalers serving retail insurance producers with specialty and excess lines markets. - 30 - |
