PIWA leaders to meet with legislative leaders
PIWA officers and directors will be in Albany Mar 5-6 to meet with legislative leaders and officials from the Department of Financial Services to discuss issues of concern to the state's wholesale insurance community. PIWA will be lobbying in support of measures that will simplify the placement of business in the excess lines market, by reducing the frequency that declinations must be obtained for existing policies, and by expanding the export list. In addition, PIWA will be seeking the passage of legislation that would create a domestic surplus lines certificate of authority.
PIWA Company Partners program created
In response to suggestions from members, PIWA this year established a new Company Partners program, through which wholesale carriers and other supporters of the New York wholesale community can show their ongoing support of PIWA and its members. This support is critical to the association as it provides us with the resources to conduct meaningful member events.
Please be sure to thank PIWA's 2012 Company Partners, and help us to promote the program to other carriers. For a list of PIWA 2012 Company Partners and information on the program, go to the PIWA website:

PIWA Spring Fling scheduled
PIWA's 2nd annual Spring Fling will be held once again at St Johns University in Manhattan on May 24. The program will focus on education and networking for everyone in the wholesale community, with specific programs geared for those who have not yet worked in a hard market environment.
Mark your calendar for the afternoon and evening of May 24, and be sure to block the time for everyone in your firm. PIWA will offer education programs and panel discussions on doing business in a hard market environment--something that anyone who hasn't been in the business for the last several years will desperately need! Networking opportunities with wholesaler carrier and retailer representatives are also planned.
