PIWA elects first-ever, second-generation president

GLENMONT, N.Y.—The Professional Insurance Wholesalers Association of New York State Inc. elected Lucas Snyder of the NIF Group, New York, as the first-ever, second-generation PIWA president. The association elected officers and directors at its 2009 Annual Conference, Sept. 23-24, at the Hilton Pearl River, Pearl River, N.Y.

Snyder is the son of Abe Snyder, PIWA past president and a champion of educational opportunities in the insurance industry—the Abe Snyder Memorial Scholarship was created in his memory. The award is given annually to a college student studying risk management and insurance.

Officers for 2009-10 also include:

• Jo Ann Peri of Cowles & Connell of N.Y., Brewster, N.Y.,
  will serve as vice president.
• David W. Pietrowski of LoVullo Associates Inc., Depew, N.Y., will serve as treasurer.
• Barry Walfish of Jimcor Agencies Inc., Plainview, N.Y.,
  will serve as secretary.
• Gary Ricker of Pacific Pro Intermediaries, New York,
  will serve as immediate past president.

The following were re-elected to the board of directors
for a two-year term:

• Michael A. DeFeo of NIF Group Inc., Manhasset, N.Y.
• Jo Ann Peri of Cowles & Connell of N.Y., Brewster, N.Y.
• David W. Pietrowski of LoVullo Associates Inc., Depew, N.Y.

Established in 1978, the Professional Insurance Wholesalers Association of New York State Inc. is a trade association of New York state insurance wholesalers serving retail insurance producers with specialty and excess lines markets.
